Hi there!

My name is Ava. I am super sweet, playful, and eager to learn. I am great at playing fetch, enjoy tug-of-war as well as a good wrestle with my foster siblings. I grew up with a family in South LA and became pregnant at a very young age. My family found homes for all of my puppies, but could not longer care for me. I was brought to the South LA Animal Shelter and the shelter intervention program helped find reputable rescue to save me, so I didn't have to go live at the shelter - whew! I got pretty darn lucky.

Sometimes I can be a bit shy around new people, but just give me a chance to warm up and get to know you and I will smother you with puppy kisses! I am a really smart girl and would love a family who will help teach me new tricks and take me on nice long walks or little jogs.

I know I kind of look a bit unusual right now, but that's because my former "owners" shaved me - even my whiskers are shaved and a the left side of my body is blue from laying on magazines in the rain. I was quite a matted mess since I lived in the backyard and also just had a litter of puppies two months ago. All of my babies were given away, but no one wanted me, including my former "owners," until my current foster family met me and thought I was a doll!
