Here's what the humans have to say about me:
BEAU IN LAWTON, OKLAHOMA HAS BEEN ADOPTED
If you are interested in adoption please fill out our adoption application at www.brusselsgriffonrescue.org or send inquiries to Connie Lawrence at conniel@andell.com Beau is being lovingly fostered in a private home in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Handsome Beau came to NBGR as a breeder surrender. Since arriving at his foster home, Beau’s life has been filled with adventure. He likes to spend his time frolicking with his Griffy foster brother – wrestling and playing tug of war are their favorite games. He seems to be intimidated by his Frenchie foster sister, so he stays out of her way. He is curious about the indoor cat, but since she totally ignores him, he just walks away. The outdoor cat likes to sit up high, so Beau barks at her to come on down; when she does, he doesn’t chase her.
Beau loves to sit in his foster mom’s lap and give lots of kisses. He also adores sleeping in the big bed snuggled close to her. He enjoys going on walks and does well on a leash. Beau is stand-offish with any new people he meets along the way, but he is okay with other dogs they encounter.
Here’s where Beau needs help. You have to give him time to warm up to new people. You also need to keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he doesn’t have accidents in the house. He needs a strict schedule for going outside and should not be allowed to roam around from room to room without supervision. Until he can be trusted, it would be wise to keep a belly band on Beau and limit his access in the house. Beau is not a bad boy -- this is just the result of his previous living conditions.
Also because of his previous living situation, he still has some fear issues about coming inside. The foster family is working with Beau to overcome his “door-phobia”. The best way to help Beau with this is to take him outside on a leash (even in a contained area) so he can get used to going in and out with you without hesitation.
When his foster family is away, Beau stays in a contained room with no problems.
Beau’s foster mom says, “He's going to make someone an amazing friend! He's coming around. We're all glad he's come into our lives. He's such a pleasure. His funny little hair is a constant Mohawk. He looks like a cross between a Ewok and a gremlin.
Do you have the patience to continue to help Beau with his weaknesses so they become his strengths? The effort you put into this little guy will be greatly rewarded. Beau would thrive in a home with other Griffs to play with.
Beau is 4 yrs. old, 9 lbs., neutered, up to date on vaccinations and dental care, is micro-chipped, heartworm-negative and on preventative.
Beau is being fostered in Lawton, OK.
Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
