Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi !! I am Angus - "Gus" for short. I am a year old black lab mix - not quite sure what I am mixed with! I am very very friendly and just love people. I do have a lot of energy to burn so I will need daily exercise - once I have played outside for a bit, I will calm down and lay at your feet. I love to be next to my humans. I am just a love bug that wants to please.I know sit, "no",and come when I am called (most times!) and am learning down.I am good in the car. I can get excited in new situations (new people "yeah") just because I love LIFE! I am house and crate trained. I will do just about anything for a treat or a pet! I do need some practice walking on a leash - I tend to pull.. but that will just take some time and practice. I learn quickly. I am doing so much better on a leash since coming to my foster Mom's house a short time ago! I like to sit next to my foster Mom either by her feet or with my head on her lap.
So, what’s my story?
I just arrived in CT from a very high kill shelter in Corpus Christi Texas. I knew my chances were SLIM as I am black and with Black Dog Syndrome, the black dogs are put down first. I was an owner surrender-strike 2! I knew I only had a few days to find a new place to live. A wonderful volunteer contacted Brooke’s Angels in CT and asked if they could take me under their wings. Thankfully Brooke’s Angels said yes.. or I probably would not be here today ….. Now here I am in CT!
My new Mom and/or Dad will have to be patient and continue to teach me new things ( I am still a pup ). I know I would love it if I could go for walks, a jog , or run - this would also help me get the leash thing down! It would be best if I went to a home with older children since I may knock small ones down with excitement! Please consider adopting me! I love it here with my foster mom and siblings but I want a home to call my own!
Update:
Gus just LOVES his humans and follows them around where ever we go. HE is very dedicated and loves to be close and is a true love bug with people..Gus knows "No"and sit and down.. HE LOVES to play fetch! He will chase a ball (or anything you want to throw) and bring it back to you. He always comes when he is called when there are no distractions ( ie : other dogs outside). We can take anything out of his mouth - and pick up his food dish while he is eating without any issues. He should not be placed in a home with feline companions they would be too much of a temptation! He would make a great running or jogging partner. If you are looking for a true ";people person dog"; - that loves to give kisses and lay by your feet - Gus is the dog for you.
My adoption fee is $450 and that includes my vetting, neuter, shots, microchip.
