Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Eli is an adorable gray kitty who was found wandering in the road. He was brought in for euthanasia because he is blind, but we just couldn't put down a cat this sweet. He is very personable, confident and willing to explore new areas despite his lack of vision, negative for feline leukemia and FIV, and had normal blood work.
Dr. Kaiser at Animal Eye Clinic of Spokane checked him over, and diagnosed advanced retinal degeneration. This is a genetic non-painful, but non-reversible blindness in which the light sensing cells at the back of the eye progressively die off. Because of his total blindness, Eli will need an indoor only home.
Eli loves to be petted and talked to, but is nervous about being picked up (probably because he can't see how far away he is from the floor). He shows no fear of dogs as long as they are quiet (and he'll head butt and rub on them if they let him), and no aggression toward other cats despite being an intact tom when he was brought in. He has been neutered and vaccinated, and is ready to go to a new home.
If you would like more information about adopting Eli, or to make a donation toward his care, please contact Jes at docjesadams@gmail.com or 509-690-7343.
