Chewy has waited his whole life to find love. Pulled from a high-kill shelter in South Central Los Angeles, Chewy already had several strikes against him. He arrived at the shelter with multiple bite puncture wounds on his face, ears, neck and legs. His right front leg had been broken and set by itself, causing him to be permanently disfigured. Veterinarians believe Chewy was probably a bait dog, enduring fight after fight.
Volunteers and staff at the shelter desperately tried to find someone to either foster or adopt this sweet boy. He was special, and everyone knew it. But Chewy was "just another Pitbull" to many, and a potential adopter was no where in sight.
We believed we could give Chewy what he needed: A second chance at love. Now Chewy resides here at Second Chance at Love Humane Society, waiting for someone to fall in love with him. It's pretty easy to do.
Even with Chewy's injuries, he still wants to walk and live a normal life. He has an amazing personality and temperament. He loves playing ball or going for car rides. He adores people. He has permanent damage to his leg, but that doesn't stop him from doing what any other dogs would do. Dogs like Chewy don't come along every day!
