My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Grace and Hope are siblings. They were born with undeveloped upper eyelids, with no margins. This means the haired skin of the eyelid ran right down to the eye instead of having a normal hairless edge with lashes. This has resulted in chronic irritation of the surface of their eyes.

Both kittens have been evaluated by Dr. Kaiser at the Animal Eye Clinic of Spokane, and have had surgical correction (grafts to create eyelid margins) of their eyelids. They have a bit of an odd appearance, but how cool is it that they can make custom retro-fitted eyelids!?

Hope has a fairly sizeable corneal scar where she developed an ulcer from hair rubbing against the eye before they were released, and may therefore have some decreased vision in that eye. It is looking likely at this point that they will not need long-term medication, but because of the decreased vision concerns, a requirement for adoption is that they be indoor-only cats.

They have also been vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed, and are ready to go to a new home. It would be ideal if they could be adopted together, and to encourage that we are offering a discount on the adoption fee if they go as a pair - $100 each if they are adopted separately, and $150 for both. Obviously, any donations above that would be greatly appreciated as we've spent almost $3000 on them!
