Meet Spencer and Sunshine, two adorable long-haired Jack Russell Terriers who are 5-year-old brother and sister. They are neutered/Spayed, up-to-date on shots, and microchipped and ready to go to a new home today!
A bonded pair, Spencer and Sunshine would like to stay together
for the rest of their lives. They have never been apart and have grown to love and protect each other. They would do best in a home with a strong alpha leader who can give them the love, attention, and additional training they are longing for. Their world was turned upside-down when their previous owner regretfully felt she could no longer give them the attention and care they needed due to her own health issues.
Spencer is about 20 pounds of love and affection. He is okay around adults both men and women. Spencer has not been around kids or cats at his foster home so it is unknown how he would react. He is very affectionate and seeks attention from his person. Spencer is house trained but will mark his territory to leave his calling card.
(belly bands are a wonderful thing for potty training purpose, and saves things from being wet on). In time the males give it up as they feel they are in the home with no others to compete with. He will require some additional training in his new home to understand
where it is acceptable to relieve himself. Spencer doesn't like to be left alone in a crate but tolerates it as long as he is with his sister, Sunshine. He does have some anxiety which is easily overcome when wearing a calming shirt like a Thundershirt. Spencer will sit
for a treat and is good on a leash but could use some additional
training to learn 'Heel', 'Stay', 'Come', 'Off', 'Down', and other
basic commands. He wants to please and is a quick learner. He rides well in the car. Loves his chicken jerky and chicken liver treats!
Spencer likes to sit on your lap and give you kisses.
Weighing in the same as her brother, 20 lbs, Sunshine is good with other dogs her size and adults including men. She does try to dominate smaller dogs so caution should be used when introducing them. We really think if you are wanting a pair of dogs, that these 2 will be sufficient and will be more
than enough when it comes to the energy side of it.. She has not been around kids or cats in her foster home so it is unknown
how she will react. Sunshine is housebroken but, as with all new dogs, some additional training may be necessary to ensure she
knows the rules in your home. She likes to take walks with her brother
and take in all the new sights and smells. She LOVES toys and likes to play fetch with a ball. Sunshine enjoys being near her person and will lick you to death if you let her. She rides well in the car. She enjoys a piece of chicken jerky or a couple of chicken liver treats and will show you her best 'sit' to get them. She could use some additional training on some of her other basic commands such as 'stay', 'come' 'off', 'down', etc. She will bark to let others know she is protecting her yard. She would do best in a house with a yard where she can run and play. She tolerates being in a crate as long as her brother is with her.
Spencer and Sunshine are longer coated breeds who will require some
regular brushing and occasional trips to the groomer to keep them looking their best.
If you are interested in meeting Spencer and Sunshine please complete an adoption application on our website so you can be considered. www.wowdogrescue.org
Spencer & sunshines adoption fee is set at $350.00
