Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Squiggy
Don't miss out on Squiggy by emailing us to see if he is still available.
(Please get an application in instead).
If he is adopted, we make the change right away on our website.
www.wowdogrescue.org
Mainly because we all work, it isn't always easy for us to get back to you timely,
so you can often miss out if your application is not in when we review them..
Your application stays with us for 90 days, so if you miss out on this one..
keep looking, we want you to rescue a dog!!
Squiggy is an adorable fluffy mixed breed male who came in as a stray looking very unkempt. A quick bath and groom revealed the little white diamond in the rough! He is a young adult about 5 1/2 years old. Weighing in at just under 14 pounds, Squiggy is full-grown and his compact size makes him suitable for either an apartment or single-family dwelling as he doesn't bark or make much noise.
Shy and a bit fearful at first, once he warms up to his master he will follow you everywhere like your shadow. Squiggy gets along well with other dogs his size but has not been exposed to bigger dogs, cats, or children in his foster home so a slow introduction to any of those would be needed.
He does not like fast movements so small children who do not appreciate his apprehension may not be suitable until it is known how he will react. He will attempt to bite if he doesn't like what is being done to him like grooming/brushing his face or tail. It is very apparent based on the condition he was in when found that he was not familiar with regular grooming.
The groomer confirmed that he likely had not had a professional groom prior to the day she groomed him. He is a breed which does require regular grooming every 8-12 weeks.
Squiggy hasn't been around many men at the foster home but with whom he has come in contact did not seem to upset him. Squiggy doesn't seem to mind normal household noises such as the blender but isn't very fond of the vacuum cleaner or dust mop. He is housebroken and uses the doggy door at his foster home although he will require some additional guidance in his new home to settle into a new routine and understand where he is allowed to do his business. Squiggy is crate trained and will sleep quietly through the night in his crate but would also enjoy sharing the bed of his master if that is allowed.
He will go into his crate during the day if he feels the need to take a break.
Since he has been in his foster home he has learned to enjoy his leashed walks taking in all the new sights and smells. His favorite activity is chasing a tennis ball or squeaky toy but could use some training in bringing them back to you. He will chew voraciously on the soft toys until he is able to make a hole from which to pull out the stuffing and the squeaker so he will need to be supervised when he has stuffed toys. A good bully stick satisfies his need to chew. Squiggy isn't really a cuddler but will sit on your lap and demand that you pet him or give him a belly rub. He can be a bit food aggressive particularly if there are other male dogs in the household.
Squiggy does ride well in the car as long as he is constrained. It is unknown how o it is best to keep him either in a crate or a seatbelt harness when riding in the car. Squiggy is a lovable, little fluff ball who is longing for the unconditional love that he will give in return.
Squiggy is current on his immunization shots, neuter,
Bordetella, Rabies shot, d-wormed and micro-chipped.
(We will go through applications for Squiggy around 8/20/19
If interested in him please get your application in so you can be considered.
Squiggy's adoption fee is set at $250.00.
