About:
Rocky is an adorable and compact guy with a playful personality and a love for adventure. He has the energy and enthusiasm of a much younger dog, combined with the maturity to know when it’s time to relax. He showed up at AAC as a puppy and he lived with the family that adopted him for 4 years before they moved out of state and dropped him back off at the shelter. Rocky is eager to find his forever home and shower his new family with affection .

The Perfect Mix of Active and Cuddly:
Rocky loves exploring the world on walks and enjoys playing with toys in the yard. He can be a bit enthusiastic on leash at first, but with a little patience and positive reinforcement, he quickly becomes a joy to walk. After a day of adventure, Rocky loves to relax on the couch for some quality cuddle time. This little guy is all about the good life: walks, cuddles, and belly rubs.

Well-Mannered:
Rocky is very treat-motivated which makes him a quick learner and eager to please. He enjoys puzzle toys and is already house-trained, making the transition back into a home environment a breeze.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year.
