My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Woody: A Heart of Gold Waiting for His Forever Home!

Woody isn't just a dog; he's a loyal companion waiting to share his big heart with the right family. Once he forms a bond, it's a bond for life!

While he might be a little shy at first, especially with new people and situations, his sweet and goofy personality shines through with patience and understanding.

Woody's journey has been a bit of a rollercoaster, moving between different locations and shelters. He's been with The Furever Project in a foster home for several years. We are dedicated to finding him the loving, stable forever home he deserves.

We've learned that Woody thrives in a calm, consistent, structured, environment with plenty of space to run and play. A fenced yard is a must for this energetic boy!

What makes Woody special?
 * Deeply Loyal: He forms incredibly strong bonds with his people.
 * Intelligent and Trainable: Woody loves learning new tricks and excels at training. He's a quick learner and enjoys mental stimulation. He is very intelligent.
 * Energetic and Playful: He loves long walks, runs, and playtime in the yard.
 * Observant and Curious: Woody is very smart and loves to know what is going on. He noticed when even the smallest thing changes.

What Woody needs:
* A patient and understanding family willing to give him time to adjust.
 * A home with a fenced yard (no apartments or townhouses).
 * A calm, structured environment with a consistent routine.
 * A family committed to daily exercise.
 * A home without young children due to his enthusiastic play style.
* Slow, controlled introductions to other dogs. He can live with other dogs as long as they are tolerant of his playstyle.
* A family willing to continue his medication for anxiety and high energy.
 * Someone who does not bring him to dog parks.

Woody has been waiting for his forever home for far too long; he’s actually been waiting his whole life. Woody may come across as a big goofball but he’s a sensitive soul who deserves a loving family to call his own.

If you're looking for a loyal, intelligent, and playful companion and have the patience and understanding to help him thrive, Woody might just be your perfect match. Could you be the one to give Woody the happy ending he deserves?

More about this rescue

We are not selective about the breed of dog we help. We consider the lives of all breeds to be equal. The labor force behind our mission is 100% volunteer staffed. We save dogs from shelters as well as from owners who cannot care for their dogs any longer. The dogs we take in are placed in loving foster homes until they find their forever home. We do not have a brick and mortar facility; we are 100% foster based including loving fospice for terminally ill dogs. We work to support the local community by providing education on care and treatment of dogs. Promoting safe handling, the importance of vaccinations, heartworm prevention, advocating and providing financial assistance to those in need for spay and neutering. We arrange for community outreach by building kennels and outdoor shelters to get dogs off chains.
