Dogs: Heinz can coexist with dogs and engage in light play but this is all on his own terms. There are moments where Heinz just isn’t into sharing his space - gotta respect that right? He should be the only dog in a home for now.
Cats: No cats
Though shy when first meeting you, once Heinz opens up, he’ll show you his silly side. He does a little tap dance when excited to see his favorite people. With patience, Heinz really wants to be your friend (especially if you have food – this kid is a true foodie). A volunteer who has a soft spot (more like an obsession) for Heinz took him home for a few weeks. He was outgoing, silly, happy, and played with toys in the home. He was still skittish outdoors but was making improvements.
Even though Heinz has come a LONG way since he first arrived, he is still timid with new people and spooked by loud noises so he’ll need a special, patient family who will embrace his quirks. He will need a fully fenced yard.
Heinz is crate trained and is 90% house trained.

We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches.
Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $450 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.
