My story

DOB 7/15/17 – Lottie22 has quite the personality! Her tail is always switching, whether she’s happy and purring or a little irritated. Lottie22 loves the little toy mice that rattle and will play “bat the mouse” over and over again. She loves food, she hasn’t met a can of wet food that she wouldn’t eat. She lets you know when you are late with her breakfast or dinner, meowing in her “it’s time to eat” voice. Lottie22 is very talkative. She enjoys being petted and brushed for a while, but she will let you know when she has had enough. She will allow you to pick her up, not that she likes it very much! In the time she has been in foster care, she never scratched her foster mommy. She can be very sweet and she craves attention. She will need time to adjust to her surroundings, but feel that she will adjust pretty quickly. She must be in a house where she is the only cat.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step in the adoption process is coming into the shelter to meet a cat. Once you have found the perfect match for you, you will fill out a one page adoption application. We will then do any necessary vet checks to make sure that if you have any existing pets that they are up to date on all vaccines and have been seen for regular vet care. Once you have been approved one of our volunteers will contact you to set up the adoption. The last step is one of our volunteers will bring the new member of your family to you and you will sign an adoption contract. We do not spay/neuter or give rabies to kittens under six months of age. If you adopt a kitten under six months you will be required to spay/neuter and give them their rabies at your expense. This will be in the adoption agreement. The adoption fees are $90 for one cat/kitten and $140 for two. All cats have been tested for feline leukemia and FIV, had their distemper booster, rabies if over six months, had fecal testing done and been de-wormed, they have been flea bathed, and have been spayed or neutered if over six months of age.

Second Hand Purrs is dedicated to the betterment of misplaced felines in the greater Milwaukee area. We will strive to give feline owners and concerned citizens every option above and beyond abandonment and euthanasia.
We are progressing towards this mission by providing an additional resource to the community for unwanted felines. By providing shelter to animals, education regarding spaying and neutering and a genuine concern for helping animals and people alike, we will reach out to the community to make it a better place for everybody.
