My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Diesel`s foster recently said he was the best dog he`d ever met!
He also had some other wonderful things to say about him:

- Smaller than he looks in pictures (53lbs, but very short and stocky)
- Very curious about everything
- Truly loves other dogs
- Knows sit and down
- Will sit and wait for dinner if asked
- Learned to walk with a Gentle Leader because he can pull and it
makes it easier to walk together
- Working on off leash recall and doing well
- Loves rolling in stinky things in the yard though
- House trained but needs a routine
- Crate-Trained
- Sleeps through the night in crate but loves to jump on the bed and
sleep on the pillows when he can
- Has met lots of different people and has times of nervousness, especially if they are wearing a hat, sunglasses, or hoods
- Will alert bark new people when in a group, but quickly makes them part of the group
- Will jump on you out of excitement
- Huge ladies man, will instantly befriend any ladies stranger or not,
guys come second
- Bit of a nibbler, likes loose garments and nibbles on them. (Probably
his most annoying habit and only thing that really needs work.) He will stop if he has a toy in his mouth, which is also one of his favorite things to have in his mouth
- The cuddliest dog ever
- Has to be touching a person at all times if one is home

More about this shelter

Our mission is to promote humane principles, protect lost, homeless, abandoned and mistreated animals, and act as advocates for animals in our communities.

Animal Friends Humane Society (AFHS) was established in 1952 and is the only open- admission shelter in Butler County, Ohio. In 2009, AFHS relocated from its outdated facility in Trenton and now occupies a 22,500 sq. foot facility with top-notch amenities for its shelter population in Hamilton, Ohio. By adopting nationally recognized best practices for animal shelters, AFHS has been successful in increasing its overall save rate and hit a record high of 94% in 2020. Assisting over 5,000 pets each year, AFHS is committed to providing individual care to local pets in need. As Butler County’s largest and oldest 501(c)3 non-profit animal shelter, AFHS is always in need of community support to continue its lifesaving mission.
