My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Demi is a loving, active dog who needs a stable, supportive environment to help her reach her full potential!
Location: Lexington, SC (fostered in Gilbert, SC)
Name: Demi
Age: 2 years (DOB: 11/23/22)
Breed: Beagle Mix – Dad is reportedly a full-blooded Beagle, and mom is a hound mix. She weighs 34 lbs.
Gender: Female
Spayed/Neutered/Shots: UTD on rabies, DHLPP, and bordetella vaccines, as well as heartworm and flea prevention; spayed.

Good with Dogs, Cats, and/or Kids:
- Dogs: Loves dogs and thrives in their company.
- Cats: Tolerates cats and will allow them to sleep near her but doesn’t actively seek their companionship. She has never shown aggression toward cats.
- Kids: Demi has been around a rambunctious 2-year-old nephew and seemed uncomfortable with the loudness and activity level. She might do better with older, calmer children, but younger kids are not her preference. With time and exposure, she could potentially warm up.

Aggression or Medical Issues: No formal aggression issues. Sensitive about her back right foot due to a past injury where she lost a toenail (specifically, grooming this area can be challenging). Given pepcid & zyrtec as needed for acid reflux (does like gagging; vet thinks it may be result of a seasonal allergy).
House/Crate Trained: House-trained (only one accident when settling in at foster’s house). Crate-trained & will enter the crate when feeling scared or threatened.

Additional Info/Personality:
Demi is initially timid but warms up quickly, especially when another dog is present. She’s a follower and benefits from having a confident dog in the household. Raised with large dogs and plays accordingly. Enjoys doggie daycare, where she gets exposure to new people and dogs. Prefers a harness over a collar or slip leash for walking. She adjusts well to a leash once she understands her surroundings, but would do best with a fenced yard for additional freedom. Demi is scared of loud devices like Roombas/vacuums, lawn mowers, and weed eaters. Needs heavy duty toys.
- She has blossomed during her foster period, gaining confidence through interactions with her foster sibling and other dogs. She loves sprinting around yards and playing energetically.
Demi would thrive in a home with at least one confident, playful dog, Owners who can continue structured activities like daycare or other frequent mental enrichment, and a family willing to be patient as she continues building her confidence.
Message/comment if interested. Make sure if you message me to include the animal’s name since I have a lot of rescues I am trying to help rehome at the moment. Adoption application & contract required to ensure good home.

Go meet their pets

We are foster based only at this time.
Meet and greets for dogs must be scheduled in advance.
Meet and greets for cats are near impossible normally because we all foster/house both cats and dogs and the dogs "go off" when visitors come over making all the cats hide.

More about this rescue

In service of domestic animals in South Carolina, Frisky Business Rescue is a no-kill rescue that provides vital resources such as veterinary care, birthing assistance, medication, and rehoming or safe release (TNR) to the most vulnerable animals in the region. We specialize in animals with special circumstances that come from various backgrounds, including animal hoarding and abusive situations but primarily focus on vulnerable kittens, puppies, and pregnant/nursing dogs and cats. Before rehoming, we carefully screen new potential families to ensure the needs of our animals are met and that new homes will become furever homes.
