My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Willow! She is a 3-year-old cattle dog mix with a heart as big as her journey has been long. Life hasn’t been easy for her—she was first surrendered in August 2023 when her owner was forced to move and couldn’t find pet-friendly housing. After a few trials that didn't work out, she found a new home, only to be returned again when her beloved dad had to enter a nursing home with no family members able to take her in. Despite these hardships, Willow has remained affectionate, resilient, and eager to find a place where she truly belongs.

A true people-lover, Willow thrives on companionship and will soak up all the affection you have to give. She enjoys playing with toys, though she can be a bit bashful at first when exploring new things. She has previously lived with children and done well, making her a great fit for families. However, her herding instincts are strong, and she has a tendency to chase cats, so a cat-free home would be best.

When it comes to other dogs, Willow is a bit of a mixed bag. She has done well in playgroups at the shelter, interacting positively with a variety of other pups. However, in a home setting, she has shown jealous and controlling tendencies, which is common for cattle dogs. Because of this, she would do best as the only dog in the home or with an adopter who is experienced in managing these behaviors in a multi-dog household.

Willow is looking for a home that understands and appreciates the quirks of her breed—one that can provide structure, patience, and love. In return, she will be a deeply loyal and devoted companion. After all she’s been through, she deserves a forever home where she will never have to worry about being left behind again. If you’re ready to give this sweet girl the stability and love she craves, come meet Willow today!
