My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Chevy!

Super Sweet Attention Lover Chill Friendly

Personality: Chevy is a well-behaved, gentle soul with a charming and affectionate nature. While he may be a bit unsure of new people and dogs at first, he warms up beautifully with proper introductions, revealing his sweet and loyal personality.

Socialness: Chevy has shown positive interactions with children aged 9 and up but does not currently live with kids. His initial shyness may require slow and structured introductions to other pets in his forever home, especially cats. Chevy gets along best with laid-back dogs, thriving in a calm and relaxed atmosphere.

Likes:

  • Walks

  • Car rides

  • Tasty treats

  • Having a cozy spot to rest

Dislikes:

  • Can feel uncomfortable in busy or chaotic settings

Training: Chevy is a smart and responsive dog who knows commands like sit, down, shake, off, and leave it. While he may occasionally test your consistency with commands, his well-behaved nature and eagerness to please make training a rewarding experience.

Health: Chevy is in excellent health and has handled vet visits, baths, nail trims, and ear cleaning with ease. His foster family has no health concerns to report.

Forever Home Requirements:

  • Fence: A physical fence is not required, but Chevy cannot be trusted off-leash, as he enjoys testing boundaries with a playful game of “catch me if you can.”

  • Environment: A calm and quiet home where his gentle personality can flourish. He would prefer a family that is home more often than not.

  • Companionship: While Chevy gets along well with other laid-back dogs, slow introductions are essential, especially with any new pets in the home.

  • Family: Chevy loves spending time with his people. He needs a family who is home more often than not. A work-from-home position would be ideal, otherwise a family who is gone for 6 hours or less at a time would be great.

Chevy is a loving and low-maintenance companion who thrives in a relaxed and stable environment. With his endearing personality and good manners, he’s sure to make a wonderful addition to the right family. If you're ready to welcome this handsome boy into your home, please reach out to us by following one of the two steps below.

More about this rescue

Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue was started in 2008 by a group of Dane lovers who desire to help Danes in need. The rescue is made up of all volunteers who lovingly give of their time and money to help these wonderful dogs. Volunteers include people from every walk of life, all with one thing in common, love of Great Danes.

Each animal coming to the rescue is temperament tested, given a physical, vaccinated, wormed, checked for heartworm and tick borne illnesses and treated as needed. All dogs are sterilized before being re homed. The dog is then placed in a foster home to wait for someone to love it forever.
