Please consider that some of these dogs have been abandoned or ignored by their previous owners, having little interaction with someone who cares about them.
When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life.
Hi, my name is Gustaf, and I'm a male GSD wjth an estimated DOB of 10/6/21 who was adopted out in 2022 when I was a cute puppy then returned because I was given too much freedom which led to problems. I ended up chasing bicycles and I grabbed the mailman's calf while delivering mail one day. I'm guarded when I first meet new people, but I do warm up over time with slow introductions, and once you're in my inner circle, I'm very affectionate and loving. The rescue is hoping to find a home without young children as they can open doors accidentally.
Update: For the last several months, I've been living with a foster who's also a dog trainer and I've made amazing progress! I have done well around other dogs, both large and small, with proper introductions. I LOVE to play fetch! I've also done well with the resident kitties. I've been non-reactive to people and other dogs while on walks. Nothing brings me more joy than pleasing my humans. My commands are spot-on, and I know sit/stay, down/stay, come, heel and place. I've had lots of fun accompanying my foster parents on hiking, camping and road trips. I'm a boy who thrives with structure, routine and proper exercise. I need a patient, GSD-experienced adopter. Is that you? If you are interested, please go to adoptagsd.org and submit an online application. My adoption fee is $400.
Although we do our best to keep our adoptable animals page as current as possible, the animals you see may already be in an adoption process.
