My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a seasoned playmate who loves to cuddle just as much as he loves to tug? That's ME, Chester, a charming 7-year-old pup with a heart full of love and a spirit that's as playful as a puppy's!

I am the epitome of a lifelong learner. I adore picking up new tricks and skills, making me an ideal companion for anyone eager to teach and bond with their furry friend. Whether it's learning something that makes you smile or exploring a new trail, I am always up for an adventure.

When I'm not busy learning, my favorite pastime is playtime! I am a tug-of-war aficionado and will gladly challenge you to a friendly game. My enthusiasm is infectious, and my joy for playtime will surely bring a smile to your face.

Despite my playful nature, I have a softer side too. I absolutely adore cuddling up next to my favorite humans, where I feel safest and happiest. My affection knows no bounds, and I'm always ready to shower my family with love.

It's important to note that I also embrace my sensitive side. I am a little wary of storms and fireworks, so a comforting environment during loud noises will help me feel secure and calm.

If you're ready to welcome a loving, playful, and cuddly companion into your life, I eagerly await meeting you. Come check out a delightful dog who promises to bring endless joy, laughter, and love to your home!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We hope you meet your four-legged love at SPCA Florida! Our goal is to help you find a companion that best suits your household. We have wonderful animals available and a great deal of information to share with you.

Adoption Process
When you arrive at the Adoption Center we invite you to take a look around and meet the animals. We encourage you and your family to spend time with each pet you are interested in to see which is the best fit. Our trained staff and volunteers are happy to answer questions about the animals and provide you with whatever background information we have regarding that pet. Please keep in mind we do not always know all of the adoptable animals’ history or background depending on how they arrived at SPCA Florida.

If you currently have a dog at home we recommend you bring him or her in to interact with your potential new dog.

When you find a pet you would like to adopt the next step is to fill out an Adoption Application, which will be reviewed with you by one of our trained counselors. The counselors will answer any questions you may have. If the pet is already sterilized he or she can go home the same day, otherwise the surgery is normally scheduled the next day and the pet can go home the day of surgery.

Adoption Fees
Adoption fees vary depending on species, breed and age. The fee includes:

•Spay/Neuter surgery for unsterilized pets
•Dogs are dewormed, tested for heartworms (if negative they receive a 30-day heartworm preventative; if positive a certificate for treatment paid for by the Guardian Angel Fund) and receive vaccinations for canine distemper, adenovirus type 2, parainfluenza, parvovirus and Rabies
•Cats are dewormed, tested for feline leukemia and feline aids and receive vaccinations for feline distemper, rhinotracheitis, calici virus and Rabies
•microchip

Other supplies are available for purchase in our adoption center lobby.
