Hi, I'm Stan and I have been at the ARP for over a year now. I am a very special boy and I'm looking for my perfect home. In short, this home would have me as their only pet (or potentially with a calmer/submissive dog) and only consist of adults. I am fearful towards children, as they do such unpredictable things. I am also fearful of men at first, but I am working on it and I do have some male friends! I have anxiety, but I am on Prozac, and it helps me a bunch. I will need to stay on my medication, as it makes a drastic improvement for me. My dream home would have a fenced yard as I love to lounge around outside, it is my favorite activity (unless it is raining). I am great on walks, until big huge loud trucks zoom by; I will bark and spin in circles to show my distaste. I love dog beds, the bigger the better! You will catch me rearranging my room constantly, it has to be perfect. I do not tear things up; I keep all my things as nice as possible. I love my people a lot, and cuddles are amazing, especially when I get belly rubs. I am highly treat motivated and super trainable.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped.
Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.
The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Most of the dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies we rescue come from pounds. We provide quality care for our rescue animals until they're adopted, no matter how long that takes. We do initial checkups, spay or neuter, bring our rescue animals up to date on shots, and provide other necessary medical treatment. We've treated animals for heartworm, parvo, broken legs, and more. Our adoption fees only sometimes cover the cost of care until the animals are treated. Donations are welcome!
