Ophelia waits quietly in her kennel, unsure of where she truly belongs. Once loved, now forgotten, she watches the world pass her by, hoping someone will see the gentle soul hidden beneath her timid exterior. She flinches at sudden movements, not yet sure who she can trust, but when a kind hand reaches out with patience, she leans in—just a little.
Despite her fears, Ophelia’s heart still yearns for joy. She comes alive when a ball is tossed her way, bounding after it with a fleeting sense of freedom. Tug-of-war brings a spark to her eyes, a momentary escape from the sadness of being left behind. She needs someone who will move at her pace, leash in hand, guiding her toward the safety of a forever home—one where love isn’t temporary.
She’s waiting for the person who won’t walk away.

Mission Statement:

The Pittsylvania Pet Center is committed to protecting the health, safety and well-being of all companion animals by working with Animal Control Officers in the enforcement of state and local laws, reducing the number of stray and homeless animals, and providing the best care possible for every animal that comes through our doors.
We will shelter and care for homeless, abandoned, and lost animals, work to keep and place animals in safe, loving homes, and provide education and resources to pet owners to enhance their lives and the lives of their companion animals.

We will strive to be the voice for the animals in our community and ensure that they are properly cared for. We believe that collaboration is key in animal welfare.
