Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hey my name is Summit and they tell me I am currently the longest resident. I came to Border Paws in October of 2023, so it has been a while but don't worry that hasn't affected how energetic and enjoyable I am.
I can be selective with some dogs but most of them are pretty cool, I'm just working on how to intereact with them softer. I do not do well with cats at all they are to small and kind of annoying if I'm being honest. If I could pick (and I kind of can) I want a busy family with enough time for me to learn some more or even go to some training classes. I really like to please my people and do really well in class. I would also like to learn how to keep my mouth to my self since I get bored sometimes and use my mouth for attention but with enough enrichment I handle it better.
So far, I have mastered sit, down, place, stay, and my agility has gotten really good also but I am definitely willing to learn as much as possible.
I have recently struggled with my head getting super swollen up after a few vet visits I have been diagnosed with a rare muscle disorder called Masticatory Muscle Myositis . Yikes... but it turns out it isn't as scary as everyone was thinking. Its very manageable and its not that expensive($20-$30 ish). if you want to learn more you will have to ask my doc at the shelter they keep good tabs on me here.
I am microchipped, neutered and up to date on vaccines.

Over 1,100 animals pass through our doors every year. Did you know that the average cost to get our animals ready to be adoptable is roughly $350 per animal? That is because we require our adoptables to be spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated before adopting out.
Population control and disease management are issues in our community that we are working hard to resolve. Your donations help ensure we can continue our mission.
We have an amazing team of hard working staff caring for our animals 7 days a week. They are supported by a group of engaged board members that are focused on bettering our organization.
