My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Petra was found starving and so hungry she was eating birdseed until some kind people rescued her. Petra is hands down one of the best cats that her foster mom has ever had. She bonds to her person and will be right by your side. She can be picked up, cuddled, and is definitely a lap cat. She is playful and athletic, jumping high in the air for toys. She is spayed, UTD on shots, FIV/Feleuk Negative. She is missing a few little teeth, and has been treated by vet for oral herpes lesions that he said may completely recover. She can eat dry food without acting as if she is in pain. Petra would be happiest in a home without small children, or with children over 12 years old.

The application process....

After you complete an application, there are several things that we will do:

1. We will check your personal references. Please be sure to list two personal references and include a phone number and an email address. (form asks for one; but I like two)
2. If you do not own your place of residence, we will call your landlord or leasing office. Please check with them first to learn about their pet policy.
3. We will call your veterinarian for a reference. We are looking for a history of annual exams, vaccines maintained routinely, annual heartworm tests and monthly preventatives. We require the following:

* All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered.
* If your pet is not up to date on vaccines, please do not submit the application until you have scheduled an appointment with the vet to get your pets current on their vaccines.

4. If you are a 1st-time pet owner, please include the name and phone number of the veterinarian you plan to use.
5. Be sure to call your Vet(s), giving them permission to speak with us.
6. We may need to do a home visit prior to approving your application, or post-adoption.

If these policies and practices are not acceptable, please do not apply.

We have Adoption Days on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month at 179 Chris Way in Somerset, Kentucky from 12-4 pm EST, in addition to community-based special adoption events. You can also make appointments to meet the animals by calling 606-451-2367.
