This helps Cody's Friends Rescue with pet care costs.
Is he as sweet as he is cute??? Absolutely!!! Carter's (affectionately known as Carter John) statistics and personality:
Carter is an adorable guy. I’d guess he’s around 3 years old, or so. He’s just shy of 58 pounds. No one has the same guess as to what his breed is. His head comes up to my knee.
Carter has medium energy. He’s not destructive and is totally crate trained. He can often be found picking up a toy and entertaining himself. He's partial to orange kong balls.
Carter is sweet, sweet, sweet. He’s super affectionate. Our kids adore him and he loves them. He gets along with our personal dogs and he does well with our other foster puppies about 95% of the time. Carter is not near as confident as most of our other foster puppies. For this reason, Carter would do best with an older and more chill dog sibling. He would be perfectly fine as the only dog, too. Unfortunately, if Carter feels threatened, he will try to make himself appear scary- to other dogs and to strangers, even though he really would prefer to give them kisses.
I’m not sure what happened in Carter's first months of life before the shelter, but I do know that it wasn’t all rainbows and roses. It breaks my heart to have to disclose that Carter lives with more fear than most dogs. Carter’s ideal family would understand that he prefers stability and structure and that he is slow to accept lots of change- including new dogs and new people. But once he finds his people, he will trust them with all of his soul and he will hold up his part as an amazing family member. Carter deserves to feel safe, wanted and loved BIG.
If you’re looking for a total sweetheart who we consider to be a serial kisser, then Carter is your boy!
