Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Domino - a loving tuxedo boy with an estimated date of birth of 1/30/2023. Brought to us from the streets of Chicago by a PPAH supporter, we were happy to give this guy a new life.
Domino is fun, affectionate, and energetic! He will run to the door to greet you when you get home and will snuggle up next to you at bedtime. He is a talkative guy and has unfiltered opinions on how you should spend your time, and it's mostly with him! He is looking for a best friend to share laser pointers, wand toys and little mice with. He loves napping next to you on the couch, showing off his very speedy after dinner zoomies, and watching birds and squirrels from his favorite window perch.
A recent visit to the vet confirmed that Domino's food intake needs to be controlled - (don't tell him! He's very proud of his curves.) A custom diet was formulated, and he does need to be fed separately from the resident cats in his foster home. Luckily he is very happy to take his meals in the guest room and join his friends for playtime after. Domino gets along extremely well with other friendly cats and would be quite happy with a feline buddy.
Domino is FIV+, and these cats often get overlooked.
What Should You Know About FIV:
Humans and dogs cannot catch FIV. It is exclusively a feline virus that can only be spread to other cats through blood. This typically only occurs during very rough fights, which is why it is most common in cats who have lived on the streets. An FIV+ cat is very unlikely to spread the virus to an FIV- cat while play-fighting. FIV is not a "sickness." There are no medications or special treatment of any kind required. The only noticeable effect of FIV is a weakened immune system, so cats who are FIV+ should not go outside."
