Buttercup came to ARC with three other kitties because her guardian could no longer care for them. The adjustment to ARC was easy for the good-natured Buttercup. She is usually busy enjoying herself and exploring her surroundings. She is good with staff, volunteers, and even strangers and welcomes attention and gentle petting from all.

The Animal Refuge Center (ARC) of Fort Myers is a not for profit animal welfare society dedicated to stopping the escalating cost to impound, care for, kill and dispose of dogs and cats dying for no reason other than having been born. ARC is helping to cut the large numbers of homeless animals which eventually cuts the costs to taxpayers, which to date has reached over half a million dollars a year.

ARC is a non-euthanasia organization. Once we accept an animal for adoption, IT WILL NOT BE DESTROYED TO MAKE ROOM FOR ANOTHER. We are here to help the unwanted and neglected animals who now face certain death.
