Rook is a stunning young GSD looking for his forever family. He has some upcoming orthopedic surgeries and I would love to get him settled before he faces them, to minimize stress during recovery.

Rook is an adventurer! He LOVES the outdoors, and is always ready to go. Hiking, running, swimming, everyday is fun! He loves to train, is very quick to pick things up, and will play ball forever.

Rook has come a long way since arriving in rescue, and is really figuring out who he is. He can be neutral with other dogs, but prefers to do his own thing. He is not looking for a canine buddy, he's all about his human partner. He can successfully live with other dogs, as long as you treat them as individuals. He's there to work and bond with YOU. I would not recommended another male dog close in age.

Rook has stranger danger, and doesn't enjoy being handled by those who aren't his person. He has come a long way, and does well at the vet and physio. He is better with women than men. We muzzle where needed. He will take time to bond to his new person, and is best suited to an experienced shepherd owner, who enjoys training and building relationships. Once you are in his circle of trust, he is a giant teddy bear! He is very affectionate, loves cuddles, and will follow you everywhere.

Rook is pretty to look at, but was born with a wonky skeleton. He has an upcoming surgical consult with the amazing Dr. John at CMVH, and we will formulate a plan for his elbows, and right hip. He is currently on metacam, and weekly physio visits to SOAR. His elbow and hip surgeries are covered with his adoption, as well as his neuter once his orthopedic surgeries are complete. Keeping him fit for life will be very important to make sure that he heals well, and makes the best of his surgical corrections. His new hip will be good to go once healed, but his elbows will likely prevent high impact sports such as agility and disc. We'll know more once we've had the consult. Please don't let this disaude you from considering him! He will be VERY capable of enjoying everyday and living life to the fullest!
