When Guapo arrived at CWA in 2019 he was in rough shape! A kind man who knew Guapo from shared time on his porch, also knew his friend needed medical attention. At first the transition was not smooth. Guapo was scared and defensive. After staff persistence, Guapo realized we were his allies and accepted care.
Once healthy, Guapo became a free roaming kitty in our Staff Only area. His preference. His other preference was being served. Receiving his meals and interaction from a top of condos seemed to suite him. For special friends, Guapo will jump down to a window sill for pets and engagement. But as of late, Guapo is even coming down on the floor and even leaving his room of security to seek interaction. Once he your attention though, he makes a dash for his comfort zone with the hopes you'll follow.
Our dream for Guapo is a quiet home with an experienced, patient cat owner. Someone who will allow him to grow his confidence on his own timeline. Guapo would be a great around other mellow cats as he enjoys observing his fellow felines here at the shelter. We know his forever someone is out there and now Guapo is ready to make their acquaintance.

Our shelter is open from 11:00 am - 3:30 pm every day, except Wednesdays 11:00am - 7:00pm. Adoption application can be completed in advance, or at your visit to the shelter. Application is at www.catwelfareassoc.org/adopt The adoption fee covers vaccinations, flea treatment, de-worming, FIV & FeLV testing, microchipping, and spaying/neutering. All cats and kittens are spayed/neutered before they are adopted out.We offer a 30 day health guarantee and return policy, but we will always take back our cats if for some reason the adoptive parent can no longer care for them. However, after the 30 day period, no refunds or exchanges can be made.
We have many wonderful felines that you can choose from so please visit us when you have plenty of time to look around and find the cat that is just right for you. We accept cash, checks, VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and debit cards for payment.

The Cat Welfare Association was founded in 1945 by a small group of people who saw the need for an organization designed specifically to help the many stray and abused cats in the Columbus area. We are a non-profit organization with the mission of promoting better care and understanding of cats while providing for the physical welfare of homeless cats and kittens.
The cats taken into our care are strays and frequently have been abused or injured. We give them plenty of tender loving care along with any necessary medical treatment they might need. Our shelter provides a home for these cats and kittens until they are adopted-- whether it be for a short time or if they live out their lives here.
