My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pete, the purrfect companion! This laid-back feline is looking for a forever home where he can snooze the day away and snuggle up with his favorite humans. Pete is also active and loves to play with stuffed toys.

Pete is a clever cat and his intelligence shines through in his ability to figure out tricky things (like opening kitchen cabinets). He's also been trained to keep his paws off the laptop keyboard.

This well-mannered kitty is a bit quirky - he likes to pull his dry food out of the bowl and dine on the floor - but his affectionate nature and playful spirit make him a joy to be around. If you are looking for a loyal and loving feline friend, Pete is purr-fect for you.

Pete tested positive for feline leukemia on intake to Helping Strays. While he is healthy today, it is impossible to know how much time before his quality of life could be affected. It could be months or years. Regardless of how much quality time he has, we think he deserves a loving home. If you think you might be the person to give him that home, please contact Helping Strays. Pete needs to be an only cat or go to a home with another feline leukemia positive cat. Feline leukemia is not transmissible to dogs or humans.

Pete is five years old.

The adoption fee for adult cats, seven months and older, is $100. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a cat, stop by the shelter during open hours.

More about this shelter

We promote the humane care of all abandoned and stray animals in our community. We are a no-kill shelter. All of our pets leave the shelter for their forever homes micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines, and altered.

Founded in 2002, Helping Strays is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported entirely by donations.

Our lucky animals receive appropriate medical care, are featured on the Helping Strays website "adoption list" and are taken to several adoption events every month in an attempt to find permanent, loving homes.
