My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Yo, world! It’s your boy Rex here. I’m ringing in the new year from my cozy (but not-so-cozy) kennel, dreaming big for 2025. Wanna know what’s on my resolution list? Find a foster or forever home. That’s it. That’s the dream. Here’s my pitch: I’m 53 pounds of pure love and goofiness, a professional Kong carrier (I call them my binkies), and an elite fetch champion. I’m house-trained, crate-trained, and I’ll snuggle you so hard you’ll forget what personal space even means. Snacks are my love language—treats, popcorn, carrots, berries—gimme all the noms. But here’s the thing: this kennel life is tough. I’d give anything to spend my days chasing lightning bugs, playing tug, and being the velcro dog I was born to be. I’m a sensitive soul who just wants to be by your side—always. I’m great with older kids who can match my rowdy, joyful energy, but cats and small critters? Not my vibe. I need someone who will love me, challenge me with training (I’m a quick learner!), and give me the endless cuddles I deserve. ✨ Can you help me start 2025 off right? ✨ Whether it’s as my foster human or my forever family, I promise to repay you with loyalty, laughs, and so much love. Reach out to adopt@aaha-rescue.org to make my New Year’s wish come true. Let’s do this, friends!December 31, 2024, 8:34 pm

Additional adoption info

An approved application, vet reference, personal reference check and home visit are required to finalize an adoption. We suggest a $200 donation that helps offset some of our expenses such as feeding, boarding, training, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and miscellaneous veterinary costs.

Go meet their pets

We are a rescue that is dependent on volunteers as we do not have a physical building. We rent space at a kennel in Upperco, Md. If you would like to meet one of our dogs please contact us to make arrangements. Thanks!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
