My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you a home body looking for a devoted companion to relax with? Meet Bree, a petite and demure sweetheart with big, brown eyes that reveal her gentle soul. At around 25 pounds, she's the perfect size for cuddling up on the couch or accompanying you on leisurely strolls through the neighborhood. Bree's journey to her current foster home is one of resilience and hope. Rescued from a gas station where her people had abandoned her, she waited patiently for months, hoping for someone to come to her aid. When we learned of her plight we rallied to her rescue and she was welcomed into a loving foster home where she could finally feel safe and loved.

Despite the hardships she endured, Bree's spirit remains unbroken, and her capacity for love knows no bounds. She is a gentle and affectionate soul. Bree is wise and a learns quickly how to adapt. She hasn't had one accident in her foster home and learned the dog door the day of her arrival. Although we suspect she had never been walked on leash, Bree picked it up instantly and enjoys a short daily walk with her people. Car rides are also a source of amusement and joy for Bree and she enjoys jumping in the car to accompany her foster parents on an errand. Her one challenging attribute is that Bree is a very serious flight risk until she becomes acquainted and bonded to her new family. She belly crawled under a 4 inch gap in the gate and also scaled the 6ft wire fence. She will need to be on leash at all times for a couple of weeks until she bonds. She has also developed separation anxiety with her foster parents and will need someone able and willing to deal with that.

She is around 3 years old. Bree has been treated for heart worm and will be retested in 9 months ( April 2025) to ensure no heart worms are present. It is imperative that she remain on heart worm preventative each and every month. Additionally Bree had hip and knee surgery in July and is recovering from that surgery for the next few weeks.

By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, and local veterinarians, we are able to rescue animals in need, providing them with loving care, and placing them in well-matched, carefully screened permanent homes. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs and horses where they are at risk of euthanasia due to overpopulation, left abused, alone and homeless. Animals in our care are spayed or neutered and receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment. We assist animals in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement.
