My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Titania is named after the Queen of the Fairies and is mom to the cottage-core babies that were recently adopted. She was a very good mama and took excellent care of her babies. Now it is her turn to find her furever family. Titania was an indoor/outdoor pet before coming to the shelter and sadly has tested positve for FIV. She is otherwise very healthy and can live a long happy life despite having the disease. FIV is not a death sentence and is only contagious through deep bite wounds. FIV cats can live harmoniously with non FIV cats as long as there is no fighting. Titania is very loving and curious. She is a total sweetheart! She has medium hair, but we wouldn't be surprised if she actually turns out to be long hair now that she no longer has fleas and is getting proper nutrition. Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees for dogs includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines, de-wormer, flea and tick prevention, heart worm prevention, heart worm tested, and microchip registration.

Adult Dogs: $200
Puppies: $225

Cat adoption fees include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines, de-wormer, FIV/FeLV testing, flea and tick prevention, and microchip registration.

Adult Cats: $75 (or $125 for a pair)
Kittens: $90 (or $150 for a pair)

Since 1979, the Effingham County Humane Society has been committed to serving Effingham County, IL and the surrounding area. We are located in the former Funkhouser School, and our non-profit shelter is sustained by volunteers, fundraising, contributions, and adoption fees.

The goal of the Effingham County Humane Society is to reduce animal suffering in our county through educating and promoting responsible pet ownership, including spaying/neutering pets, appropriate pet identification, proper pet care, and the quality adoption of homeless pets.
