Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Coal is a sweet 5-year old male Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix who was brought to the HSOV on May 29, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found him on State Route 7 in the Marietta Ohio area (near Hensler's Market). Coal was wearing a collar but there was neither an id tag nor a dog tag license on his collar ... And he was not microchipped.

Coal has a black short smooth coat with a white bib on his chest, white paws, a short half tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with expressive brown eyes, a blue/charcoal nose on his cute chubby muzzle, and large semi-erect ears.

Coal appears to have an affectionate personality. He melted our photographer's heart when he begged for attention with his big brown eyes and gently walked to the gate of his kennel where he was enjoying a little outdoor time in the shade with a cool breeze on the afternoon of May 30th.

Coal weighs 48 lbs and is a fairly small dog when you see him in person. He has sparse/thinning hair on his neck/back (most likely due to an allergy).

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Coal will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.

Update: Coal went home with a foster family on June 16, 2024 who plans to adopt him after he is neutered.

Coal was neutered on July 2, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. He was adopted by his foster family later that afternoon.
