My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

Hi, I'm Devil Went Down to Georgia, a shy but sweet rat. I'm pretty smart too, if I do say so myself. I've got one pal here, but I'm always open to making more. I'm a simple guy, really. My favorite pastime? Munching on Cheerios. There's just something about that wholesome, oaty crunch that makes my day. When I'm not snacking, I'm usually playing hide and seek with my friend. I'm pretty good at it, thanks to my shy nature. But don't worry, once I get to know you, I'll come out of my shell. Adopt me for a good listener and loyal friend.

Notes from his foster - They have some baseline sneezing but I noticed an increase in both of them. On January 6 I also noted a little porphyrin around their noses so I felt it was time to start treatment for URI for both of them. They have had multiple cases of URI so I had been given the antibiotic regimen of doxycycline and enrofloxacin from Maplebrook Pet Center to have on hand when needed. They respond quickly and their sneezing is pretty much gone. I will continue this for a 30 day course.
I get them out for free roam time daily. They are less active than they used to be! Stairway explores a little then they both like to just relax. Seeing them out of the cage lets me get a good look at them. They have good appetites and are taking their antibiotics well. I have had them a while now and we know each other pretty well! Stairway doesn’t like to be touched or picked up. I do sneak in some petting when I can. When he’s had enough he’ll either push my had away with his feet or he’ll put his mouth on my finger and push it away. He’s so gentle! I don’t push it. Devil has always let me pick him up but he is not a cuddler!

Our team is made up of enthusiastic volunteers who work passionately to serve the underrepresented and often misunderstood niche of pocket pets in the overall rescue community and general public.
