My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lily, a sweetly shy lady of smaller stature. You may have even passed her by, she`s so still and so very quiet. Lily was once in a very special one on one relationship with her important person who had to go a separate way. This brought Lily to the shelter where she`s strengthened her social skills. She`s mellow, loving and friendly with all her new friends. She`s house trained and leash trained, spayed and ready to leave right away to be the very best companion you could ask for. And her size lends so well to most housing types. She`s happy to be her own princess of the house but if you have a mellow dog already at home she might like a friend. You can set up a meet and greet after meeting her in person. She`s advocated for by her friends at Classic Canines who are helping lift Lily`s voice so she may find her forever beyond the walls of the shelter. Let`s make shelter life just a short necessary stop on the way to a wonderful new beginning.

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
