My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Molly is a 5 year old, about 100lb (VERY OVERWEIGHT) Golden girl looking for her forever family.

-She needs a home with NO other dogs… living with OR visiting as she gets aggressive with other dogs

-She IS VERY overweight, and needs a family who is willing to help get her to a healthy weight which should be about 60lbs or so

-Molly is not house trained as she has been an outdoor dog her whole life, but does come in to be crated when the weather is extreme… Her new family must be committed to working with her on this, and giving her the life of living with all of comforts of being an inside dog!

-She is good with kids of all ages and all people! She LOVES attention from anyone who will give it to her!!

-She is very timid as she has had minimal socialization, but once she warms up to you, she loves you! She is starved for attention and love and wants to be with people ALL of the time!

She is being surrendered as she needs more attention than can be given to her now. We are told “By herself she is the sweetest girl ever!! I have eight kids and she is all of their favorite. She steals the kids food and the other dogs food and has become very overweight. She has social anxieties that need work, but she will take belly rubs and love ALL day long”!

A home visit is scheduled if the reference check has met our policies.

If the home visit is approved and the adoption contract signed, the adoption coordinator will contact to discuss dogs in our program.

GRRAND requires that the dog is returned if it doesn't work out or if circumstances change and the owner cannot keep the dog. Also, there is a follow-up team that will contact the adopter after the adoption to assist with any questions.

More about this rescue

Early in 1994, members of the Greater Louisville Golden Retriever Club began to see the need for an organization to rehabilitate and find homes for displaced and abused Golden Retrievers. A number of folks in this club began organizing an ad hoc rescue group. As the number of rescues increased over a period of months, this “wet behind the ears” group came up with a name and in 1996, incorporated the organization now known as Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND). The rest, as they say, is history!
