LARRY is a 2 year old, male lab mix that weighs 48 lbs. He came to us from a backyard hoarding situation. He was running with a pack of 12 others that looked just like him. Unfortunately for Larry, he was the one the pack chose to pick on. In that kind of environment, it can get dangerous for the weak ones.
We were at the home for the purpose of getting them all spayed and neutered. Our plan was to do this and leave the dogs with their owner. But we couldn't leave Larry behind.
He's been with us since March. Through no fault of his own, his social skills are lacking when it comes to people. We're aware of the time commitment it takes and we're allowing him to absorb "us" at his own pace. He is now doing well enough to get him up for adoption. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. That was his issue, he didn't want to fight back. Fortunately for us, that's a good thing!
What he needs now is a very quiet, supportive and patient home that will continue to introduce him to the world of humans. Dogs like this can give a "rescuer" the greatest feeling of accomplishment when one day, there is a wonderful personality sitting there, wagging a tail and staring you in the face!
If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application. Please visit our website at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com and click on Larry's picture in "Adoptable Dogs". Additional adoption FAQ's can be found here also. Meets will be set with approved applicants based on our "best family fit" approach.
Thank you!
