My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Saffi is super smart. She has learned that people are wonderful once you get to know them. She has learned how to give kisses, even if they are sometimes drooly ones.
Under the radiator is a good warm spot if sunshine is unavailable. The best warm spot however is a human lap. Saffi believes that laps are a great place to hang out. She also knows that to get her person's attention, leaning into them will get better attention than blocking their face with her body, though she will occasionally do that too.

Saffy is not too chatty, but likes to meow when you get home until she gets some welcome home treats. She loves her treats, which coupled with her sharp mind, is a perfect combination for learning tricks, unless you just want to snuggle. She likes that too.

1.
Submit Application

Before submitting an application, we ask that you review the information on cat care and our policies here: https://www.vokra.ca/adopt

2.
Interview

Our adoption counsellors focus on educating our adopters on cat care. Once approved, they use a matching process to find your perfect pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

When you find a kitty you like, you will arrange an appointment with the foster home - where the kitty feels most comfortable and confident.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

Our adoptions contract process includes reviewing critical cat care information and providing contacts for post-adoption advice.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Woo hoo! You will be expected to take the kitty to a free post-adoption vet check within 2 weeks, and follow up on any required vet care.

Additional adoption info

Each year more than 1,400 cats and kittens are adopted through VOKRA. We're always here after the adoption if you need ongoing advice.

Response times can vary, depending on the time of year and available volunteer resources. Applications and help requests for non-emergency issues will usually receive a response in 1-3 days.
