My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Pam and I am so glad you are taking a look at me.

When I arrived at Anderson Humane from a partner shelter in Louisiana, I tested positive for Heartworm.

The staff believes that the best place for heartworm-positive dogs like me to be while going through treatments and recovering is with a loving and forever family like yours.

If you choose to adopt me, the clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support.

The process from detection to the final treatment is generally three months and involves some simple at-home steps to keep me safe while I recover. The last step in the process is a follow-up test six months after my treatment begins.

The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful and the staff anticipates that I will fully recover! And you should know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes.

I would do well in a home where I can receive plenty of love and attention, as I love human affection. My ideal family would also understand my need for a lower-activity lifestyle during my recovery period and be patient and supportive throughout my treatment journey. My affectionate nature makes me a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal lap dog to share their home with.

Once I complete my treatment and receive clearance from the veterinarian, I will be ready to enjoy a more active routine and explore the world around me with my new family.

Stop in and meet my cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you.

I hope to meet you soon!

Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
