Hi, my name is Paul and I'm 7 years old. I came to the shelter after my humans realized the new baby was allergic to cats. My favorite thing to do is to go outside. My previous family had a 1-acre lot in the countryside, and I loved going out in the evenings and spending the night outside. I am both an indoor and outdoor cat, as I still love the luxury of a litter box, clean/cool water, and my favorite food Purina One Tender Selects Blends with Chicken. I've tried others such as IAMS and Deli Cats, but they made me throw up. I also detest fish flavored food. My previous family had dogs, so I know what they are and stand being around them as long as they leave me alone. I have been known to give the dogs a gentle scratch or chase them off if they play too rough with me. was placed for adoption alongside my housemate, Sugar, we are not bonded however but it would be cool to go to a new home with her since we were raised together. I am not a lap cat but will definitely enjoy a snuggle near the couch with you and I definitely love to be petted. Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about me and I hope we truly get to know each other if I do get the opportunity to go home with you!

A staff member will ask you what sort of pet you are looking for and then will provide you with information about specific pets that appear to be a good fit for your family, taking into consideration such factors as: kids, level of activity, your pet experience, other animals currently in the home, etc. You will be encouraged to interact with the pet or pets of your choice in a private visiting room. We believe that bringing a new pet into your home is an important decision so you’ll have plenty of time to make your decision without feeling rushed. Staff and volunteers will be available throughout this time to answer any questions you may have. Once you’ve made your choice, an adoption counselor will review the adoption contract with you.
You’ll pay the adoption fee. Then you’ll take your new family member home with you!
An animal can be put on hold in person at the TAILS facility during regular adoption hours.

Our mission: Saving the lives of companion animals through rescue, adoption and spay/neuter; advocating for pets in our region.
TAILS Humane Society is a limited admission animal shelter providing a safe haven for almost 2,400 animals each year. We are committed to providing each animal the time and medical care they need to have their best chance at adoption.
TAILS was established in 1999 by a group of local animal advocates dedicated to bringing a comprehensive animal shelter to DeKalb. We operated out of an old farmhouse until 2005 when we cut the ribbon on our Barber Greene facility. In 2009, we opened our low cost Spay/Neuter Clinic providing quality, affordable sterilization services to the public. We continue to grow and strengthen our programs and service as we continue to save lives.
