My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Reese is a sweet and lovable tripod who recently lost his front limb. Despite this, he’s adapted wonderfully and is ready to find his forever home.

Reese is a bit of a couch potato and a dedicated snuggle buddy. He loves lounging around and will happily keep you company on lazy days. He’s also quite the talker, often whining when he’s not getting his way – it’s his adorable way of communicating with you.

One of Reese’s favorite activities is playing with his chew toys. He has a playful side and will occasionally drop his toy off the couch and fake cry until you pick it up for him. It’s all part of his charm!

At night, Reese sleeps comfortably in his crate, but when the sun comes up, he loves to join his humans in bed. He’s a champion sleeper and can snooze until noon if you let him.

Reese is fantastic with other dogs. While he’s not overly playful, he enjoys being around them and gets along great. He’s also excellent with kids, making him a wonderful family pet.

This lovable boy also enjoys car rides and loves going out in his stroller. He’s always up for an adventure!

Reese is shy around new people. He’s come a long way but still needs slow intros and someone willing to wait for his trust.

He’s been working hard at building up strength as it was exhausting missing a front leg - it’s much harder dogs as that’s where you carry most of your weight. When he is full grown, just over 1 year, he will be fitted for a prosthesis (at our expense of course)! Until then swimming is super helpful to him to build up muscle and strength.

If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who’s great with kids and other dogs, Reese might be the perfect addition to your family

More about this rescue

PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.

Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
