My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Artemis! This playful 1.5-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix, the perfect balance of adventure and affection! She’s an energetic explorer who loves outdoor activities and getting into the action. When the adventure ends, she’s all about cuddles and snuggles, making her the ultimate cuddle bug. She’s eager to please, enjoys training sessions, and is always ready to work for treats. This sweet girl loves kids and is sure to be a great companion for the whole family, though she’d prefer a cat-free home. While she enjoys being the only dog at home, she’s open to making friends with other pups outside the house. Her face-licking affection is sure to win you over!

More about this shelter

We serve the pets and people in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. Our mission is clear: To take responsibility for each and every orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected dog and cat which reaches our doors; to take them in and shelter them; to provide the best medical and physical care possible for them; to nurture them back to health if need be; and finally to place them into warm, loving, adoptive homes where they can enjoy the lives they deserve.
