My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Greetings, noble friends! Allow me to present the venerable Gertrude, a senior lady of canine elegance whose presence exudes the wisdom and grace of ancient times. With a coat as rich and soft as the finest woven tapestries and eyes that gleam with a lifetime of loyal companionship, Gertrude is a treasure from a bygone era. Picture this dignified dame moving gracefully through your home, her every step a testament to her noble bearing and seasoned spirit. Gertrude's gentle demeanor and serene nature will bring a sense of tranquility and reverence to your daily life, much like the quiet majesty of an old forest.

Yet, Gertrude's virtues extend far beyond her noble appearance. Her heart is as warm and steadfast as a hearth in a grand medieval hall. Envision this: after a day spent in peaceful contemplation, you retire to your abode, and there is Gertrude, nestling beside you with the comforting presence of a trusted guardian. Her intelligence and gentle soul make her the perfect companion, ever ready to offer solace and affection. With Gertrude by your side, each day becomes a journey through the annals of history, rich with love and loyalty. Adopting Gertrude means embracing a living legend, a steadfast friend who will fill your home with timeless warmth and cherished memories.

Additional adoption info

The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application (applicant must be at least 23 years of age). Once your application is received a volunteer will contact you to discuss your application. All references listed will be contacted, along with a call to your veterinarian to make sure your current/former pets are/were up to date on all vaccinations. We also complete a background check and home visit will be performed. Once all that is complete, and application is approved, we will arrange meet and greets with our adoptables that may be a good fit for your family and lifestyle. If a perfect match is found, an adoption contract will need to be signed, along with an adoption fee.

All of the above steps are then reviewed by the Chi-Town Pitties, Inc. Board for final approval. Once your application is approved by the Board, we will move forward with scheduling adoption interactions with potential dogs that are a good fit for you and your family.

More about this rescue

We are a small 501c3 nonprofit rescue, committed to leading with our heads rather than our hearts, to help quality dogs find quality homes.

We work closely with area shelters to get as much information as we can about the dogs we take in so we can be as prepared as possible to provide for their needs as we place them in well-matched foster homes. If you would like to join our team of fosters, expect us to have a close ongoing relationship with you as you help your pup get ready for their permanent home.

If you are looking to adopt, expect us to get to know you, too, so we can help you find the dog that will thrive best in your home situation. Like big dogs in general, pit bull type dogs tend to have big personalities, and are an athletic bunch (they even power nap). They aren’t right for every owner, but not every person should be allowed behind the wheel of a Maserati either.

Wondering if a pittie is right for you (and if you are right for them)? Talk to us!
