My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Buddy!

I'm a friendly Schnoodle with a passion for all things edible. From kibble to cucumbers, I devour it all! My motto? "Life's too short to skip a meal. When the clock strikes mealtime, I'll be your trusty reminder-my internal food alarm is never off duty!

But that's not all-I've got a few other talents up my sleeve:

- Siren Serenader: When police or ambulance sirens wail, I join in with my own howl. It's my way of saying, "Hey, fellow sirens, I feel your urgency!
- Sock Protector Extraordinaire: My mission? Safeguarding your socks from a lonely life on the floor. If I spot one, you can bet I'm on the case, picking it up until you tell me to 'drop' then I know you'll give it a great home.
- Doorbell Detective: I leap into action even before the doorbell's rung, barking as if the house is under siege! But the moment you open the door and I see you're not worried, I transform into a tail-wagging social butterfly. Any friend of yours is a friend of mine. (Except leaf blowers and lawn mowers, those are my arch enemies , and you can't convince me otherwise)
- Outdoor Enthusiast: I absolutely love the outdoors! Whether it's a romp in the yard or a hike in the park, I'm always ready for an adventure chasing all there is to chase out there... Butterflies, flies, but ALSO:
- Squirrel homing missile: I'll keep your yard safe from these mischievous intruders by chasing them away. I've never caught one (and wouldn't know what to do with it if I did) but won't stop me from trying!
- Dog Park Aficionado: I love dog parks and playing with other dogs, though I think I'm the biggest one there!
- Food lover: I know I said it already, but trust me it's worth repeating. I'm super food motivated, will sit through anything for a kibble.

Vital Stats:
- Breed: Golden Schnoodle
- Approximate age: 8 years old
- Up-to-date on vaccinations
- No fleas or heartworm, or anything else scary
- Weight: Approximately 21 lb
- House trained
- Doesn't heel for walks but is highly food motivated and eager to learn with treats

So, if you're looking for a food-loving, sock-protecting, siren-singing, doorbell-barking, nature-exploring, squirrel-chasing, dog-park-loving companion, I'm your pup! Let's share some tasty adventures together.

More about this rescue

K-9 Angels Rescue is an all-volunteer, all-breed canine rescue organization established in February 2012.

We are a rescue group for shelter dogs who run out of time. In other words, we are not a shelter, have no permanent facilities, and are not equipped to take in dogs from the public. We select dogs from the greater Houston "kill" animal control facilities who would not have made it out alive. (Don't worry! If you need help rehoming a dog, there are other non-profit groups who can assist you.)

No one involved in K-9 Angels receives ANY compensation. Our volunteers are compassionate animal welfare advocates who contribute their time, skills, and finances to shelter homeless dogs in Houston. To save the lives of the abandoned, abused, and stray dogs who end up in Houston's animal control facilities, K-9 Angels relies completely on adoption fees, donations, and our amazing volunteers.

K-9 Angels covers ALL costs for dogs currently in the program. During intake, every dog gets a microchip and is spayed or neutered (if old enough for the procedure). If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. We fund all medical care necessary, even if we have to raise extra Helping Paw funds for special cases! From the time they enter the program to the time they graduate, K-9 Angels dogs are kept up-to-date on all vaccines (DHPP, bordetella, rabies) as well as heartworm and flea prevention.

We commit to K-9 Angels dogs until they are adopted.
Our volunteer foster homes patiently provide safety, love, and integration into a household environment - a key to successful adoptions. The biographies, pictures, and even videos from foster homes are important "pup-licilty" for our dogs! We are always in need of additional foster homes.

Our goal is a "fur-ever" home! We take every precaution not to contribute to the dog overpopulation problem here in Houston. Applications are processed according to our adoption policies to insure the best situation for our dogs and the families who adopt them.
