My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Atticus is a friendly 7 month old puppy described as a “sweet big baby who loves to give kisses”. He weighs 58 pounds and probably still has some growing left to do. Atticus will be a super addition to an active family where he can be included in daily activities. He loves being with people, going on walks and frolicking in water. He would make a great hiking buddy.
His foster mom says “Atticus is a good boy who loves life inside and outside! He plays hard and loves big. He adores my husband. He does great in his crate..sleeps all night. He walks well on the leash. He loves to play with other dogs and does best with bigger dogs because he is just a puppy and doesn’t appreciate his own size. He is patient and calm when I give him a bath.”
Atticus is crate trained and nearly housebroken. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventives. If you think Atticus is the perfect boy to join your family, please email bigyellowdog.wendy@gmail.com for an application.

We are a foster home and sanctuary based network. There is no one particular facility that the general public can visit. All potential adopters should contact the rescuer posting a pup.

Please remember that we are a network of rescuers with uniform vetting, quarantine and wellness care. Our network includes volunteers in many states primarily the eastern seaboard and New England providing foster or sanctuary care.

More about this rescue

PHILOSOPHY : Based on an Albert Schweitzer quote

" THINK OCCASIONALLY OF THE
SUFFERING OF WHICH
YOU SPARE YOURSELF THE SIGHT."

Double Dog Rescue works with a network of excellent rescues in rural America to help alleviate the massive problem of pet OVER- population. The volunteers we work with are inundated with dogs and puppies that otherwise would be euthanized in local shelters It is a deeply saddening fact that dogs and puppies are euthanized for no other reason than simply lack of space, lack of compassion, no regulating laws. We are working towards a NO KILL SOCIETY. Until this goal is acheived we will continue to aid rescuers in rural areas place loving dogs into approved homes where they can be valued family members.
