My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Pittsburgh, PA
DOB: 1/2/2018

Meet Isabella: Your Energetic and Loving Cuddle Buddy!

Isabella is a 6-year-old female Great Dane looking for a cuddle buddy! She loves to cuddle and is great with other dogs. While she seems curious about cats, she is not aggressive toward them and could possibly tolerate a home with a cat with proper slow introductions.

Isabella walks well on a leash and gets excited about going on walks but responds very well to correction using a gentle leader. She sometimes has accidents in the house and does not always communicate when she needs to go potty. This loving girl will become attached to her human and wants nothing more than to be near you and get pets. She gives great hugs too!

Despite her age, Isabella is very energetic and loves doing zoomies in the yard. She gets very excited around small kids, so it’s best if any children in her new home are 13+ and have experience with large breeds. With some training, she could do well with all kids—she just needs to learn how to manage her excitement. Isabella does jump at times and will beg for food. Her counter surfing skills are top-notch, so keeping food out of her reach is a must! She is afraid of thunder and will need some comforting during storms.

Isabella hasn’t shown any food or toy aggression and gets along well with other dogs, even as small as 15 lbs. A fenced-in yard where she can run and exert her energy is ideal. She would do best with an owner who is home more often than not, as she loves being around her people. Isabella would also love a home with a canine companion to keep her company. She is extremely loving and adores snuggling with her humans.

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
