Tuuk recently spent the night on a sleepover with one of our fosters! This is what she had to say: `Tuuk is the ultimate love bug! He is an extremely sweet and VERY intelligent dog that responds well to gentle redirection. He has a pleasing nature and a genuine desire to make his people happy. Within hours of having Tuuk, he warmed up to me—wanted cuddles, head scratches, and to share space on the couch. He LOVES being outside and is a very active pup who would make a phenomenal running buddy or friend to an active family or couple. Tuuk has high energy and a curious nature and would benefit from having good supervision and loving parents who will help guide him as he still has big puppy energy. Outside of some leash pulling, no behavioral issues were observed whatsoever even when walking him in a crowded park with lots of people, dogs, and activity. Give Tuuk a chance! He would make a forever, loyal companion!`

Tuuk’s adoption fee-waived this week only ?? He is the ultimate love bug - an extremely sweet and VERY intelligent dog that responds well to direction. He has a pleasing nature and a genuine desire to make his people happy. Within hours of an overnight foster having Tuuk, he warmed up to her for cuddles, scratches, and to share space on the couch. He LOVES being outside and is an active pup who would make a phenomenal adventure buddy. Tuuk’s foster also reported she had no issues walking him in a crowded park with lots of people, dogs, and activity. He’s been losing weight in the shelter and needs a home or foster. Ventura County Animal Services (VCAS) is an open admission, life-saving, municipal animal welfare agency in the County of Ventura. The Camarillo Shelter, the main shelter, is located between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara Counties and houses the Administrative Offices and Veterinary Hospital. The Camarillo Shelter has a 400-animal capacity which can increase to over 900 during declared natural disasters.

The Simi Valley Animal Shelter is smaller facility located three miles from Moorpark College and can house up to 40 animals. The Simi Valley Shelter, however smaller, offers many of the same services and opportunities as the Camarillo Shelter, such as the intake of stray and surrendered animals, pet adoptions, pet licensing, the reclaim of lost animals, and volunteer opportunities.

VCAS offers a wide array of programs and services to the residents and animals of Ventura County. These services include animal sheltering, pet adoptions, lost & found, field services, cruelty investigations, pet licensing, TNR surgical services, low-cost vaccination clinics, volunteer/foster opportunities and emergency disaster response.

VCAS provides contract services to the residents of Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Simi Valley, Ventura, and all unincorporated areas of Ventura County. VCAS is dedicated to improving the lives of the animals in their care, and to safeguard the community through rabies suppression and the sheltering of stray animals.
