Amadeus von Mozart is a gorgeous black and red 16 month old German Shepherd who will surely turn heads when you walk him in your neighborhood. He is a gentle and sweet dog, ready to be someone’s soulmate. He is housebroken and takes treats gently from your hand. He also walks well on leash and is even happier if he has a canine buddy by his side. In our play yard, this handsome guy will meet other dogs face-to-face and mingle with them happily. His medium energy level fits him well and he knows his basic commands. He would love to have some canine buddies in his new home! (No cats please.)

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
