I came to the shelter very scruffy and worn out, but with a little TLC from my friends at Classic Canines and my fosters, I’m back to my fabulous, fluffy self! Now I’m living the dream with two humans, three cats, and a few stray cats hanging around the yard. I get along with all my four-legged friends—cats included (they might not always agree, though!). My favorite activities? Eating, napping, and occasionally strutting my fluff on a walk. I’d love to be an indoor dog, where the snacks are plentiful, the couches are comfy, and the TV is always on for some quality nap-time entertainment. Pizza? I’m all in… if only the humans would share.
I’m housetrained and can handle a few hours on my own (but I’ll need a quick potty break in the middle of the day, just like you do!). AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
