Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi there! I’m Yara, a timid black panther working on my socialization with humans. I’ve been with SCAT since the summer, and I’ve had a couple of foster homes, but I think this one’s just the right place for me. I’m a little shy, so it’s been a slow process, but I’ve been making progress every day.
I really love the resident male cats here. They make me feel safe, and I think I might have a bit of a crush on one of them! They’re really helping me build confidence, and I’m starting to venture out of my bedroom more. The human is still a bit scary, but I’ve been spotted hanging out in the same room as them, even relaxing out in the open sometimes. That’s a big step for me!
I’m still not sure about the whole “petting” thing, though… maybe one day. But I want humans to know that timid cats like me have some of the most heartwarming journeys. It takes time and patience, but when we start to trust, it’s worth the wait. So, if you ever see a shy kitty like me, just know we’re working on it and we appreciate every bit of kindness you show!
Likes: Other friendly cats, toys that chirp
Dislikes: Fast movements, humans (but I’m working on this)
An ideal home would have: A quiet home with loving humans that are knowledgable about timid kitties like me
Good with cats: Yes
Good with dogs: No
Good with children: Unknown, but likely only older/ quiet
Would this kitty enjoy a companion?: Yes

More about this rescue
Since 1996 SCAT Street Cat Rescue's prime focus has been feral cats because of the limited options available for them. TNR is a successful option instead of the traditional trap and kill. The majority of the cats rescued by SCAT, however, are socialized and available for adoption. As the city grows, so to does the need for our services. Adopt, Donate, Volunteer, TODAY!
