My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ruby! She is a 3 year old, 12 lb cockapoo with special needs that is ready to find her forever family!

This sweet little thing has a little bit of a special condition that presents a lot like megaesophagus (a condition that doesn't allow food/water to properly move down the esophagus, from mouth to stomach) and needs to be managed like megaesophagus. However, her special needs don’t slow her down, and quite simply, all she wants is someone to snuggle with her and let her sleep in their bed.

Ruby is a pretty low key gal. She is slow to warm up to new people, but everything about her absolute perfection! She takes several daily medications to help manage her condition that will cost around $150/month. She recently transitioned out of her Bailey chair (a chair where she ate sitting up), but has to eat soaked kibble and be hand fed. Her water intake has also improved and she does fine drinking out of a special slow feeder water bowl. Her condition is very well managed following this feeding routine. Outside of her eating routine, this girl is your typical dog. She is her foster mom’s little shadow, following her everywhere, looking to catch a little cuddle any chance she gets. She loves making a nest on the couch and taking in the events of the household.

Ruby lives with other dogs and cats and does great with everyone. She is indifferent to other dogs, so if you're looking for a playmate for a furry family member, Ruby isn't your gal. She really doesn’t need another dog to live a happy and full life. She has zero interest in cats, so those aren't a problem at all in a home. She still cannot eat dry food or treats, so a home with children old enough to understand would be best. She is house trained and does great in a kennel, but definitely prefers to be with her human.

Ruby is an absolute doll and deserves to find a family that appreciates her needs as much as we do! If you think you might be a good fit for Ruby, you can send inquiries to our director of adoptions at muttmisfitsadoptions@gmail.com or apply to meet / adopt at www.muttmisfits.org/adoption-application

She is spayed, up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, heart-worm negative, and micro-chipped!

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) rescue whose mission is to help unwanted animals in situations that could lead to harm or euthanasia. We primarily focus on animals with major medical illnesses, injuries or advanced age that are often overlooked and usually the first to be at risk of euthanasia. By partnering with shelters and the public, we promote responsible pet ownership, spay and neuter, and the adoption of special needs pets. It is our goal to save the un-savable!
